The Kaidai-7-class submarines were built for long-range patrols in the South Pacific and off the Australian coast. Armed with forward and aft torpedo tubes, they posed a significant threat to Allied shipping, though all ten were lost by mid-1944. Complementing these subs are the Shin’yo kamikaze boats, designed to deliver devastating explosive charges in suicide attacks, and the T-14 torpedo boats, armed with two 18-inch torpedoes and light anti-aircraft weaponry.
